Prague's public transport network is one of the most efficient, allowing you to reach anywhere in the city by metro, tram and bus. The whole network shares the same types of ticket, and depending on how you will use it and how long you are staying in the city, you can choose between several types of ticket.
Single ticket: Valid for 90 minutes from validation. Tickets work from the moment they are validated, so don't forget to validate your tickets at the metro, tram or bus stations. A single ticket costs 32 crowns, and it is the most common.
Short-term ticket: This ticket allows you to use trams and buses for 20 minutes with no option to transfer. On the metro it is valid for 30 minutes and lets you travel a maximum of up to 5 stations.
If you are travelling with luggage, it is important to buy an additional 16-crown ticket for each suitcase you carry. Backpacks and handbags are not considered luggage.

There are also passes, which tend to be used less, although it depends on where you are staying and the length of your stay.
Day pass: Unlimited use of public transport from validation for the whole day (24 hours). It costs 110 crowns. Recommended for groups staying outside the historic centre.
3-day pass: Unlimited use of public transport valid for 3 consecutive days (72 hours). It costs 310 crowns.
